FINESSE: Remember That Most Communication Is Planned


Never assume the great ones are spontaneously good or bad with their communication.  Most effective communication is planned.

Rod Steward sang it correctly when he sang that the "other woman" was not spontaneous - "her ad-lib lines were well rehearsed."


Sometimes senior managers and leaders seem to stumble in their remarks. The safe bet is to remember they are pros who would have risen to their level if they were sloppy. In other words, the ad-libbed lines are planned for a purpose.
